a fool for something

I was chatting with an old friend of mine and in the conversation he mentioned how 'we all have to be a fool for something'. It was a simple statement but it really makes sense. Honestly I think diving into a passion no matter how long it lasts is essential to life. When I get stuck in ruts where my life is all about my schoolwork or everyday matters I really do start to feel bummed. But I recall so many times when being excited about something changes everything. I'm kind of a nerd and some of my past obsessions were NASA, art history, and learning german. Most recently it's been woodworking and Mt. Everest climbers (see, I'm kind of a nerd). And even though reading about these things, learning about these things, has no practical application in my life, I don't know what I'd do without them. Keep on learning on.

nili lotan

I don't know much about fashion. But Nili Lotan is my fashion idol. Or maybe all around lifestyle idol -
look at that studio space. Fabulous.

minimalism

Own less and own well. - my favorite minimalist quote by artist Farrah Sit.

And, who else wants to visit Marfa, TX? Awesome art and architecture...road trip.

making

I started sketching jewelry ideas about a year ago in hopes of doing something creative with my hands and to step away from a computer screen. A year later I find myself in the shop whenever I get a free moment. I'm working on a wood jewelry line with a friend of mine that we plan on launching this month. It began as our idea to raise money for our senior show but it's developed into something much more exciting. It feels so good to create something tangible by hand. Now when I'm not plugging away at the thesis I'm covered in saw dust playing with crazy tooling machines. Love it. Photos to come!
